๐Ÿ’ซ WHAT WE DO

Three big ways we help.
One big goal: changed lives.

Every child at Mercy Children faces different circumstances โ€” hunger, lost parents, no fees, disabilities, distance. Our programs meet them where they are.

Early Childhood Education

Baby care, reception & primary classes โ€” where play meets learning.

We run a nursery and reception program for children aged 6 months to 6 years. Our curriculum blends play-based learning with early literacy, numeracy, and social development.

After our children graduate, we help transition them into government primary schools and continue to support them with supplies, fees, and mentorship.

School Feeding Program

Daily nutritious meals โ€” for many kids, the only hot meal they'll eat today.

We feed over 250 children every single day. For many of these kids, the meal we serve is the only complete, hot meal they’ll have that day.

Our feeding program runs 5 days a week during term time, and we work with local farmers and partners to source affordable, nutritious staples โ€” maize, beans, vegetables, and seasonal fruit.

Scholarship Program

Keeping kids in school when families can't afford fees โ€” primary to secondary.

Every year we identify the most vulnerable students in our community and sponsor them through primary, secondary, and โ€” where possible โ€” vocational or university training.

Sponsors receive regular updates, photos, and sometimes letters from their sponsored student. We provide receipts for every payment so you know exactly where your support has gone.

Children’s Home

A safe, dignified permanent home for orphans and abandoned children.

We’re building a permanent Children’s Home on land we purchased in 2018 in Machinjiri. This is our long-term vision: not just a day centre, but a safe, loving home for children who have nowhere else to go.

Construction is ongoing, funded entirely by well-wishers and sponsors. Every donation brings us closer to opening the doors.

Widows’ Goat Project

Economic empowerment for single mothers โ€” 10 goats per group of 10 women.

We organise widows and single mothers into groups of 10 and give each group 10 goats to care for together. Within a year or two, most groups double their herd.

The goats provide milk, meat, income from sales, and โ€” most importantly โ€” dignity and economic independence. Many of the women use the proceeds to pay their children’s school fees.

Young Mothers Back to School

Supporting teen mothers to return to school and complete their education.

Many of the teenage mothers in our community dropped out of school after becoming pregnant โ€” often through no fault of their own. We help them return to class, support their children, and rebuild their futures.

Sponsors cover tuition, supplies, and basic childcare so the mothers can focus on their studies.
