This coming December, we’re hitting the road for our biggest outreach of the year. The plan:

• Visit 300 children in rural villages
• Visit 20 widows who’ve organised themselves into support groups
• Deliver goats to the widows to help them start generating income
• Deliver pairs of shoes to the children

How it works

The widows are already in groups of 10. Each group receives 10 goats — the foundation for a herd that will feed them, produce milk, and generate small business income over the coming years.

The children — most of whom walk barefoot to school every day — will each receive shoes. It sounds small. It isn’t.

What it costs

• USD 270 funds 10 goats for one group of 10 widows
• USD 100 buys shoes for 50 children

Think about that. One hundred dollars. Fifty children with shoes. It’s hard to think of a more efficient way to turn money into joy.
