Here’s what a typical week looks like at Mercy Children in late 2021:

• We feed more than 250 children every single day
• Between 2 and 4 new orphans arrive at our centres every week
• The number of children in our care is climbing, fast

And here’s the hard truth: our food stocks are not keeping up.

What’s happening

The children come to us hungry. Some haven’t eaten properly in days. We try to give each child a full meal — enough to learn on, enough to grow on. But with numbers rising week after week, what we manage to give often isn’t enough.

We’re calling on everyone who can help

• Individuals — any donation of food or funds
• Businesses — bulk food sponsorship, corporate partnerships
• Local farmers — maize, beans, cooking oil, vegetables
• International supporters — funds for ongoing procurement
