Good partnerships are the lifeblood of non-profit work. This year, we partnered with Wash Well Hands โ an organisation focused on preventing diarrhoea among under-5 children.
Why it matters
Diarrhoea is one of the biggest killers of young children in Malawi. It’s preventable. But in rural communities, without proper hygiene education or access to soap and clean water, it spreads quickly โ and children miss school, fall ill, and sometimes don’t recover.
What we’ve done together
- Reached 22 schools across our area
- Trained 52 caregivers in hygiene and sanitation
- Taught 1,200 children how and when to wash their hands
- Installed tap buckets in every school so children can wash their hands before class, after toilets, and after breaks
- Provided soap supplies for six months to each school
The results
School attendance is up. Hygiene awareness is up. Illness is down. These schools are cleaner, safer places โ and that’s because of the partnership.
