Schools across Malawi are set to reopen in the first week of September after six long months of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
For Mercy Children, this is both wonderful news โ and a terrifying financial challenge.
Our two schools
We run two kindergartens:
- Pathway School โ an income-generating school whose fees help subsidise the needy children
- Mercy Montessori Children Centre โ the school that serves the most vulnerable children in our community, fee-free
Normally, Pathway supports Mercy Montessori. But with both schools closed for six months, neither has been generating income โ and we have fallen behind on rent.
The urgent appeal
We need MWK 350,000 (approximately USD 466 or EUR 457) to cover rent arrears before the landlords refuse to let us reopen.
Without this, both schools could lose their buildings. Hundreds of children would have nowhere to go.
Any amount helps
If 20 people each give $23, we’re covered. If 50 people each give $10, we’re covered. Every dollar buys us time to get these children back into their classrooms where they belong.
๐ Please help us reopen on time. Give today.
