The Widows’ Goat Project — 10 Women, 22 Goats, One Year In

We have news, and it’s the kind that makes your heart sit a little higher in your chest.

In 2018, we launched an animal project to help widows in our community become financially independent. We formed them into groups of 10, and gave each group 10 goats to care for together.

The results so far

2018 group: 10 widows received 10 goats. Today they have 22 goats — plus daily goat milk for their families.
2020 expansion: We’ve now added 3 new groups — 30 more widows, 30 more goats. Their herd is already up to 36 animals.

These women are feeding their families. They’re selling milk and meat. They’re paying school fees for their children. They are becoming independent — and the quiet pride in their eyes tells the whole story.
